- ➤ Andre Lajuan Wright, a 34-year-old parolee for a past shooting, was sentenced to eight years in prison for stabbing a man who said he bested him in a fistfight outside a Little Rock home — he pleaded guilty to burglary and battery — according to sentencing papers filed on Monday. - ➤ North Little Rock police arrested two suspects in connection with the June 24 homicide of 54-year-old Clifton Hall Jr. along Chandler Street—21-year-old Deshanti Lewis is charged with capital murder and aggravated robbery while 22-year-old Kameron Johnson surrendered on June 25 and now faces additional charges of second-degree battery and fleeing. - ➤ Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced seven finalists for the 2025 Arkansas Food Hall of Fame—restaurants from Little Rock, Blytheville, Camden, and other cities. - ➤ A new AP—NORC poll shows most U.S. adults support having religious chaplains help students in public schools while fewer favor turning religious schools into tax-supported public charter schools. The survey shows clear splits among religious groups and may affect plans as lawmakers consider similar measures after Texas allowed chaplains in schools in 2023. ABC 7

- ➤ The Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration warned on Thursday about a text scam that pretended to be from the DMV and threatened license suspension for unpaid traffic tickets. The agency said the text contains a link that is not on the official website (this is the second scam alert in June). KARK
- ➤ The Corrections Board approved spending $50,000 to drill two test wells at an 815-acre proposed prison site in Franklin County so contractors could assess if there is enough water to support construction; officials will look for alternate water sources if local supply falls short (the board voted 6-0). This test will guide plans for the largest prison in Arkansas, which is expected to use 300,000 to 500,000 gallons of water a day. Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

Sarah Huckabee Sanders said in an opinion piece Thursday that Congress should remove a provision from the Big Beautiful Bill—one that stops states from regulating artificial intelligence for 10 years—and argued that existing Arkansas laws protecting citizens from abuse must stand.
