  • Little Rock’s annual Ugly Sweater Race 5K will take place on Saturday at Two Rivers Park, inviting locals to run while wearing unique holiday sweaters plus enjoying a festive atmosphere.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

CULTURE NEWS

  • North Little Rock's Razorback Wing is restoring a 1941 BT-13 for future ride flights as part of the Commemorative Air Force 12 Planes of Christmas fundraiser. The group is working to raise $15,000 to complete the restoration at North Little Rock Municipal Airport.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Corbin Pitts, a 19-year-old from North Little Rock, will debut his feature-length film Good Time Charley Wednesday at Ron Robinson Theater in downtown Little Rock.   • A recent analysis of car culture shows that crashes in (Arkansas) cost billions each year, making it the third most dangerous state to drive.   • On Wednesday, hunters gathered at Bull Sprig Hunting Club near Humphrey to open the duck season segment. One group recorded 14 ducks while experiencing gear mishaps (including wader troubles) as the grain field provided a safe haven for mallards.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

SPORTS NEWS

  • Local high school basketball games wrapped up Friday with scores showing varied wins and close contests among schools. Multiple tournaments including the 69th Anstaff Holiday Tournament at Green Forest were held Saturday with set game times for both girls’ and boys’ teams.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • On Saturday, Dec. 13, No. 17 Arkansas defeated No. 16 Texas Tech 93-86 after coming back from a 10-point deficit. Brazile scored 18 of his 24 points after halftime in a rematch of last season's Sweet 16 game.  THV 11
  • Mansfield Tigers won the state championship after scoring two touchdowns in less than two minutes and holding off a late push by Fordyce. Andrew Burton led with a 90-yard run in a game played Saturday at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
