- ➤ Central Arkansas will host various holiday events this weekend. Today features a Perryville volunteer event, a tree lighting festival in downtown Little Rock, and parades in Jacksonville and Pine Bluff, while tomorrow, markets and family celebrations continue in Little Rock and other nearby areas. - ➤ Toy Hill is kicking off its 41st annual Toys for Tots holiday toy drive this weekend to help families statewide — community members are invited to donate toys for children during the festivities. THV 11
- ➤ Daniell Heat & Air launches its Heat From The Heart program to offer furnaces to three needy families this holiday season; nominations for families, veterans, and single parents run from Nov. 28 to Dec. 21 with winners on Dec. 24 receiving a furnace valued up to $7,000 at no cost. ABC 7

- ➤ The Mosaic Templars Cultural Center will host its Holiday Open House tomorrow, Dec. 7 — Brian Rodgers discussed the event on THV11 earlier today. THV 11
- ➤ Little Rock's Inland Maritime Museum will commemorate the Pearl Harbor anniversary on Sunday, Dec. 7 at 11:58 a.m. with retired Navy Cmdr. Allan Malone and his son Capt. - ➤ Treaty Oak Revival will perform at 7 p.m. Friday, March 13, at Simmons Bank Arena in North Little Rock as part of their 2026 U.S. tour, with opening acts William Clark Green & Gannon Fremin. Tickets go on sale at noon Dec. 12. Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

- ➤ UCA board members saw plans during a meeting last Friday for a new multipurpose arena to replace the Farris Center, 53 years. The 116,000 sqft venue — located north of Estes Stadium on Bruce Street — will host sports and large events, with design starting soon and potential construction in FY 2027. THV 11

- ➤ Disability Rights Arkansas in Little Rock furloughed five staff and paused three programs from federal funding delays (funds may not arrive until around the new year), and the group is raising money to support key services, said executive director Tom Masseau. THV 11
- ➤ Judge Lavenski Smith’s official portrait was unveiled Friday, Dec. 5 at the Richard Sheppard Arnold U.S. District Courthouse in Little Rock (about 250 people attended) in recognition of his 23 years on the federal bench. Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

- ➤ On Friday morning, a CDC advisory committee voted to end the 24-hour hepatitis B vaccine recommendation for newborns of hepatitis-negative mothers, a change that Arkansas pediatric groups say may raise the risk of chronic hepatitis (they insist the current schedule protects infants). ABC 7

- ➤ Cross County beat East Poinsett County by a score of 20-14 on Friday at War Memorial Stadium — their first title win since 1984. Caden Crawford earned MVP honors with 150 rushing yards and a 66-yard touchdown. Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
