COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Neighbors in Sherwood have rallied behind a local couple at 6102 Woodview Drive South who hosted a viral hot dog giveaway to help families hit hard by the shutdown. The couple fed about 300 people on Sunday and received donations of canned goods and pet food—planning another giveaway if the shutdown continues.  FOX 16
  • Tenants at a Little Rock apartment complex are without heat amid freezing weather and have expressed concerns about the building's conditions—residents now await a swift response.  THV 11

CULTURE NEWS

  • Porter Briggs, an Arkansas native and U.S. Army veteran, shared details of his new memoir, 'South, Towards Home,' on Channel 7 Midday and will host an author talk and book signing today at 6:30 p.m. at Wordsworth Books (5920 R. St).  ABC 7
  • Cade Bethea appears on THV11 (discussing upcoming November events) as the Arkansas Cinema Society outlines plans to host film programs later this month.  THV 11

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The University of Arkansas at Little Rock waived its application fee for prospective students this year — the university announced the change to make applying easier. This decision lowers the cost barrier for students seeking admission.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Monday, the Arkansas Department of Human Services unveiled 16 new banners and a living billboard on Main Street to honor National Adoption Month and show both children who have found homes and those still waiting. The billboard now shows a count that dropped from 179 to 178—its lowest record as officials work to find more forever families.  FOX 16
  • Little Rock officials held a ribbon-cutting on Monday for the city's first affordable housing unit built to meet ADA standards. The unit was funded by HUD's HOME Partnership program — it helps offer housing for people with low to moderate incomes — and shows a big step in building homes that everyone can use.  FOX 16

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Arkansas Department of Health ended its weekly flu reports and now uses an online Influenza-Like Illness Health Data Dashboard that updates automatically for flu season—showing cases, symptoms and vaccine information while protecting small data counts. A department spokesperson said the change will cut staff time and let users easily view county and demographic details.  FOX 16

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Arkansas Razorbacks will play all three of their permanent SEC opponents on the final three Saturdays of the 2025 season, with road games at LSU and No. 11 Texas and a home game against Missouri. The team—coming off a tough stretch under interim coach Bobby Petrino—will use these matchups to set the stage for future SEC scheduling.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Interim coach Bobby Petrino said offensive linemen Caden Kitler and E'Marion Harris are expected to return for the Razorbacks’ contest against LSU on Saturday at 11:45 a.m. in Baton Rouge+ injured right tackle Shaq McRoy, who suffered a leg injury, will remain sidelined.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Rex Nelson reported that the high school football regular season ended last week with very few upsets as every No. 1 team won their game — Bryant, Greenwood, Joe T. Robinson, Dardanelle, Salem, and East Poinsett County each came out on top—and he released final rankings with Bryant at No. 1 overall followed by Bentonville and others.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
