- ➤ Citizens Bank named Joey Walter as senior vice president and director of equipment finance while the new Black Community Development and Chamber of Commerce office in Magnolia chose LaShonda Foreman as director and Horace Charles as vice director—moves that mark changes in business leadership. Meanwhile, UAMS brought on Dr. Jorge Saucedo as professor and chair of internal medicine on Nov. 1, Baptist Health Rehabilitation Institute-Conway added Dr. Mina Michael, and UAMS welcomed Dr. Chad E. - ➤ After finishing two shows today in Greenbrier, Piccolo Zoppé circus begins its Fifth Annual Winter Tour by setting up in North Little Rock on Thursday with performances through November 22—then it will travel to Hot Springs, Harrison and back to Greenbrier. The circus will perform in Hot Springs from November 25 to December 6, in Harrison from December 10 to 14 and finish with homecoming shows in Greenbrier from December 19 to January 4. - ➤ Philanthropist Rush Harding was honored with the 2025 Arkansas Children's Award by the Arkansas Sheriffs' Youth Ranches at a dinner on Oct. 29 at the Grand Ballroom of the Little Rock Marriott. - ➤ Most scientists agree that our warming atmosphere is a real threat, yet Arkansas schools do not include climate change lessons. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced an extra $500,000 in state funds to aid food banks amid the federal shutdown—money drawn from the Restricted Reserve funds will be given tomorrow by the Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance to six Feeding America member banks, prioritizing areas with high SNAP use. The governor will reassess further needs if the shutdown continues. FOX 16
- ➤ Little Rock officials presented a plan at the Dunbar Community Center to complete the Arkansas River Trail loop by adding a 14-foot paved pathway along Cantrell Road near the Dillard's headquarters—local cyclists and advocates hope the upgrade will improve safety and connectivity. The project is estimated to cost between $12.75 million and just under $18 million and will move forward once a final design is approved and funding is secured. Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
- ➤ Building permits for projects $75,000 or more have been approved in the Little Rock metro area — commercial permits include a $30,000,000 project by Nabholz Construction at 5415 S. Shackleford Road and a $2,500,000 permit by ImadCheema at Baptist Health, while residential permits from H.A. Custom Homes, H&D Homes LLC and others ranged from $75,000 to $590,000.
