COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ The Little Rock Police Department introduces Radar — Arkansas’s first rescue K-9 — who is training with officers to assist with emergency rescues. Radar will join active operations as its certification is completed over the coming weeks. THV 11
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Amazon's Port of Little Rock fulfillment center, closed since Oct. 22 due to structural engineering issues, is set to reopen Saturday despite the cause remaining unknown. The company is working with local officials and third-party experts (its landlord and Fortress Investment Group are involved) to meet building code standards. Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

- ➤ The L.C. & Daisy Bates Foundation is hosting a birthday celebration for civil rights activist Daisy Bates at the Daisy Bates House Museum in Little Rock—local residents can tour the home and learn about her legacy from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11. FOX 16
- ➤ Actors Theatre of Little Rock will open its 2026 season with an immersive production of Oklahoma!—set to run from Feb. 25 to March 14 at Quapaw Quarter United Methodist Church at 1601 Louisiana St.—as part of the America 250 celebration; the season will also include plays like Fences and In the Heights and pose questions about the American Dream. - ➤ Film director Kevin Willmott will visit Arkansas next week for two events— a public talk hosted by the Arkansas Cinema Society on Monday and a lecture at the University of the Ozarks on Tuesday. His visit will give local audiences a chance to hear his perspective on filmmaking. Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
- ➤ Journey, the famous rock band, will perform at Simmons Bank Arena in North Little Rock on March 25 — part of their Final Frontier Tour 2026. Tickets go on sale on November 14 and this will be the band's final tour, giving fans a last chance to see them live. ABC 7
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Arkansas Department of Education announced on November 6 its revamped school report card website that gives families clear letter grades on school and district performance. The website uses scores out of 900 points as part of the new ACCESS Act to highlight areas needing improvement—also noting awards for top-performing schools from ATLAS assessments. ABC 7
- ➤ UA Little Rock welcomed more than 1,800 prospective students and nearly 2,000 guests at its largest preview day, Discover, where future Trojans joined academic showcases and interactive sessions with faculty. Officials announced that the university will waive its $40 undergraduate application fee until Dec. 31—removing a barrier for applicants. FOX 16
- ➤ The Little Rock School District partnered with the City to launch the Stock the Rock the wRight Way campaign to gather essential items and restock food pantries for families affected by the federal shutdown. Every LRSD school, Early Childhood Center, and Administration Building is a drop-off point for donations—helping families get the support they need. FOX 16
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced the Arkansas Plate Initiative to link local food producers with schools to provide meals made from local ingredients and teach students about state agriculture. The pilot will run in five school districts during the 2025—2026 school year with one meal served monthly starting in January and officials gathering feedback to decide on expansion during the 2026—2027 school year. - ➤ The Arkansas Department of Public Safety introduced Ruger, a long-haired dachshund mix, as a new resource for its mental wellness program and he is finishing his training as a service dog to help reduce stress among team members + support mental health efforts. Secretary Mike Hagar and counselor Teresa Hardy backed the move after the department lost seven members to suicide last year. FOX 16
