- ➤ Newton County Sheriff Glenn Wheeler said a bear that mauled a Missouri man at Sam’s Throne Campground was killed and taken to Little Rock for a necropsy—officials confirmed the animal matched photos from the scene and the campground remains closed while DNA tests continue. FOX 16

- ➤ Arkansas lawmakers approved hiring EXCEL Services to study nuclear energy options by evaluating safety protocols, technology choices and infrastructure needs under a contract signed Sept 26— the study will include interim, draft and final reports within 10 months to guide future energy planning.
