COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Officials from the Little Rock Police Department and Department of Housing and Neighborhood Programs said National Night Out will occur Tuesday, Oct. 7 from 5 to 8 p.m.—with events at four locations including MacArthur Park, Southwest Community Center, War Memorial Park and West Central Community Center—to allow residents to meet city leaders and first responders about local needs.  FOX 16

CRIME NEWS

  • Little Rock officials said a student from another school was arrested on Monday after an alleged social media threat was made against Little Rock Central High School, and Principal Nancy Rousseau confirmed there is no current danger as extra safety staff remained on campus.  FOX 16

CULTURE NEWS

  • Jonas Brothers added a show at Simmons Bank Arena in North Little Rock for their JONAS20: Greetings From Your Hometown tour on December 9 at 7:30 p.m.—opening acts Jesse McCartney and Franklin Jonas will join them while tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Thursday.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Little Italy’s St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church will host its 96th Italian Spaghetti Dinner on Oct. 5 — a pasta tradition nearly a century old that will draw throngs to the event.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Taylor’s Steakhouse in Dumas, K Hall & Sons in Little Rock and The Ohio Club in Hot Springs were inducted into the Arkansas Food Hall of Fame by the Division of Arkansas Heritage for the class of 2025. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced Monday she appointed Stephen Brannon of Little Rock to fill a vacant seat on the Arkansas Ethics Commission. Brannon, a care pastor at Fellowship Bible Church (pending Senate confirmation), will serve until Dec. 31, 2026.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Leaders from the Arkansas General Assembly have asked the U.S. Senate to approve a measure that will keep the federal government open for seven weeks—this move comes as members of Congress face a threat of a government shutdown.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation will host the Little Rock Finest event at 6:30 p.m. Friday, October 3 at Argenta Plaza and will feature the city's top cuisine to raise funds for cystic fibrosis research. Organizers will honor the Finest Honoree Class and help families affected by the genetic lung disease — a cause that deeply touches our community.  ABC 7

SPORTS NEWS

  • Arkansas football named Bobby Petrino as interim head coach after firing Sam Pittman following a heavy loss to Notre Dame on Saturday. The team will look to improve its play under Petrino's leadership in upcoming games.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
