  • Reservoir Park in Little Rock is rebuilding its new tennis courts—the first part to be restored since the March 2023 tornado—as the 58-acre park off Cantrell Road slowly recovers, city director Capi Peck said.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

CULTURE NEWS

  • St. Luke's Episcopal Church will open its Festival of the Senses season on Tuesday at 7 p.m. with a '3 x 3 x 3' concert where Andrew Irvin, David Gerstein, and Jaeyeon Park will perform Brahms' Piano Trio No. 3—admission is free and a reception will follow.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • By the early 1980s, three houses on South Gaines Street in the Governor's Mansion District fell into disrepair and were known as Jungle Houses—recent photos reveal their colorful past.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Falyn Cordeiro, a 23-year-old florist from Gentry, won the Arkansas Florists Association Mid-America Cup at the Wyndham Riverfront Hotel in Little Rock on Aug. 22.   • Arkansas Baptist beat Lyon 20+19 after Tyler Strickland scored a 65-yard touchdown run with 1:43 left in the game. Cameron Marshall caught two scoring passes + the team recorded its second win as Lyon, after leading early, lost the contest.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • At Vaught-Hemingway Stadium on Saturday, Arkansas football player Caleb Wooden quickly checked on injured teammate Kani Walker, who suffered a concussion and was taken to a local hospital — Walker later signaled he was okay with a thumbs up as the stadium clapped.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • The land around War Memorial Stadium looked like a tent city on Sept. 6 for the first-ever football game between the University of Arkansas and Arkansas State University — fans lined up early as locals gathered eagerly to watch the historic matchup.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
