- ➤ An Alexander man named Kenny Earl Brown, 18, was arrested after a high-speed police chase where he sped over 135 mph, ran red lights, struck a sign, and fled on foot near the Baseline Rd. and Interstate 30 intersection—he now faces nearly a dozen charges including two felonies. - ➤ Opponents of the plan to build a new 3,000-bed prison in Franklin County will speak at a formal hearing Tuesday at 1 p.m. in committee Room A, MAC, at the Capitol—where a citizen complaint backed by 1,258 signatures alleges poor site selection and misused taxpayer funds. - ➤ Reverend Barkley Thompson shared his cancer story after being diagnosed with prostate cancer at age 48 and undergoing a radical prostatectomy in April 2021, crediting early screening with saving his life. He now urges men statewide to get tested as the foundation doubles its screening events — hosting events at St. Mark Baptist Church and the Conway Fire Department — to boost prostate cancer awareness in Arkansas.
