  • White Hall community will hold a memorial bike ride on September 27 to honor Terry Wingard, a respected law enforcement officer and member of the Blue Knights whose legacy supports first responders. The 50-mile ride will end at White Hall City Park where the community is set to gather for a barbecue lunch, live music and a silent auction.  ABC 7

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Saturday, a fallen power line in Little Rock’s Heights neighborhood left about 1,000 households without power, and Entergy said power was restored by 3:30 p.m.—officials are still checking the cause.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

  • The Religion Calendar lists local church service times for today—Asbury United Methodist Church holds services at 9 and 11 a.m. and St. Luke's Episcopal Church at 9:30 a.m.—and shows upcoming events like Bethel A.M.E. Church's Paint and Praise Party at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 13, with submissions due by 5 p.m. Mondays.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Actors Theatre of Little Rock will perform Lorraine Hansberry’s A Raisin in the Sun at Quapaw Quarter United Methodist Church at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and at 2 p.m. & 7:30 p.m. on Saturdays until Sept. 20, featuring Willie Lucius & Amaya Hardin & Valerie Benton. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Thousands of third graders in Arkansas risk being held back under new reading standards that require a certain skill level before moving to fourth grade. Officials say the redesigned tests—called ATLAS—are used as a screening tool and that teachers will meet with families before any retention decision is made.  FOX 16

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Little Rock Board of Directors voted Tuesday to adopt a 2025 sustainability action plan and approved an adjustment to the Port of Little Rock land purchase, while Mobile City Hall will visit Grace United Church on Monday—officials said the visit will focus on community outreach.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Saturday morning, thousands of fans gathered to tailgate outside War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock ahead of the first game between the University of Arkansas and Arkansas State University. Many grilled and socialized before the game kicked off at 4 p.m.—a historic contest that united supporters from both schools.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Fans finally witnessed the long-awaited showdown between the Arkansas Razorbacks and Arkansas State Red Wolves yesterday at War Memorial— the Hogs won 52 to 7 over Alabama A&M while the Red Wolves beat Southeast Missouri State 42 to 24. The game, part of the inaugural Red in the Rock series, gave both teams their season-opening victory that many had eagerly awaited.  FOX 16
