ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • An elderly man was severely injured after a bear attack on Mulberry Mountain in Franklin County yesterday—he was working on a tractor when the animal struck and he was airlifted to Washington Regional Medical Center while AGFC began a necropsy to check the cause of the aggression.  ABC 7

CULTURE NEWS

  • Comedian Leanne Morgan will perform her 'Just Getting Started' tour tomorrow at Simmons Bank Arena in North Little Rock at 7 p.m., and the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts will host its inaugural Art Market on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. — guests can explore 25 booths and listen to talks from local gallery owners.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Today, the Acansa Arts Festival kicks off with local group Funkanites performing at 7:30 p.m. at The Hall in Little Rock, and the festival will run through Sept. 20 at venues on both sides of the Arkansas River—featuring acts from local, regional, national and international artists.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration reported that August revenues were $49 million above forecast—an 8.1% increase—with individual and corporate income tax and sales tax collections driving total revenues to $653.1 million and net available revenue to $568.7 million. The report shows a strong performance even in a month that is usually low for tax collections.  FOX 16
  • The state Attorney General's office said the new organ donation law is constitutional—rejecting arguments based solely on hypothetical scenarios.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
