- ➤ Registration is now open for the 2025 Great Arkansas Cleanup; KAB invites volunteers statewide to join from September 6 through October 31 to help clean up parks, roads and neighborhoods. The campaign builds on last year's work, which saw nearly 4,500 volunteers and many cleanup events — inspiring a state effort to keep communities beautiful. ABC 7
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ The Pulaski County Sheriff's Office said a train hit a vehicle near 5300 Perkins Street, killing the female driver and leaving the male passenger badly hurt—he was taken to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences while the train engineer stayed safe and the investigation is ongoing. - ➤ The Arkansas Black Hall of Fame has named six inductees including longtime lawmaker Linda Pondexter Chesterfield, educator Dr. Charlie Nelms, and judge Marion Humphrey ahead of its 31st annual induction ceremony. The event—held at Robinson Center Performance Hall—will take place on October 11. ABC 7
- ➤ Rock City Live will bring star performers including Waka Flocka Flame, Travis Porter, and Roscoe Dash to the First Security Amphitheater on September 7—joining special guests DJ Holiday, GK Leonitis, and DJ Nick Hud for a star-studded event in downtown Little Rock. ABC 7
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Little Rock Board of Directors voted Tuesday to repeal its land-use planning authority over extraterritorial jurisdiction—this change brings the city code in line with the new state law. The decision reflects efforts to update policies for clearer local governance. Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
- ➤ Officials from the Arkansas Auditor’s office said that over $650K in unclaimed property checks will begin mailing today—payments ranging from $50 to $5,000 will be sent automatically to eligible individuals under the new Data Match program. - ➤ Arkansas Senator Gary Stubblefield died on Tuesday after an illness at 74 — he served District 26 and supported policies to protect the unborn, the elderly, farmers and gun rights, leaving a legacy in state government. FOX 16
