- ➤ A new no-cost market opened Saturday morning at the Arkansas Workforce Center on Mabelvale Pike to help reduce food deserts and food insecurity. Local groups (Potluck Food Rescue, Arkansas Workforce Connections, Sacred Harvest Ministries, and others) shared free produce and expect to hold more events quarterly or every other month. FOX 16
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Police said a person was hospitalized after being shot in an apartment on the 200 block of Pine Forest Drive in Maumelle on Saturday—injuries were not life-threatening—and officers took another individual into custody on unrelated charges as detectives investigated. Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
- ➤ Teresa Williams was severely injured by 5 to 7 dogs last Saturday while walking to a nearby store in North Little Rock—doctors are working to prevent amputation as her daughter calls for the dog owners to be held responsible. THV 11
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Arkansas will release its proposal on Monday to invest $308 million in broadband that will serve 79,000 homes and businesses—76% will get reliable fiber while others will receive satellite or fixed wireless service. The plan will be sent to the federal government by Sept. 4 and must clear federal hurdles before construction may start in the first half of 2026. Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
