- ➤ The Pulaski County Sheriff's Office announced today that they have identified 28-year-old Sara Murphy from Quitman whose body was found in Hills Lake—officials are still investigating her death. ABC 7

- ➤ Elizabeth Eckford, one of the Little Rock Nine, spoke on Friday at the state Capitol to mark the 20th anniversary of a civil rights monument that honors the brave students who helped end segregation at Central High School—Gov. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences received a $5 million donation from Anne and Merritt Dyke to support clinical services at its Breast Center—soon to be renamed the Anne Dyke Breast Center, according to interim chancellor Dr. C. - ➤ The CDC reports that COVID-19 cases are spiking in a region that includes Arkansas, with about 15% of lab tests returning positive—indicating the true number of infections may be higher since many use at-home kits and wastewater data shows earlier spread. Updated vaccines have been approved for seniors while access for younger adults is narrowed, which could affect public vaccination in the coming months. FOX 16
- ➤ Jo Smith, a 73-year-old nurse known as Saint Jo from UAMS who helped patients for 45 years, died Thursday at her home in Little Rock after a long illness—she will be honored on Sept 20th at the Winthrop P. - ➤ The FDA announced a recall of over 26,000 packages of AquaStar cocktail shrimp sold at Walmart from July 31 to August 16 because they may contain radioactive cesium-137 — consumers in Arkansas are advised to return the product for a refund or discard it.
