CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A Pulaski County man was found guilty of being a felon in possession of a firearm after a two-hour jury deliberation—this charge came from a Little Rock traffic stop over three years ago. Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Labor Day weekend gas prices are expected to be the lowest since 2020—GasBuddy projects a national cost of $3.15 per gallon while Arkansas averages $2.78, and officials say drivers will see prices drop further as fall weather brings a seasonal decline. Some states have experienced recent price hikes due to refinery outages. FOX 16
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Arkansas Attorney General filed a motion on Monday to block Conway parents from joining a lawsuit that challenges the display of the 10 Commandments in four school districts. The AG argues that adding new plaintiffs would change the case theory and hinder its appeal of Act 573—while a filing by the Arkansas ACLU asserts that no rule prevents additional parties from joining. - ➤ Arkansas Family Dental is hosting Free Dental Day on September 26th at 7 a.m. for residents 18 and over, where they can choose a cleaning, extraction or filling on a first-come, first-served basis. - ➤ Nineteen-year-old Matthew went to the hospital on March 1 for a gallbladder complication that turned into congestive heart failure; he went lifeless for four minutes and 40 seconds before being placed on life support and a medically induced coma. Officer Tommy Norman visited him at the hospital and later shared his story online—bringing in many prayers as Matthew now uses devices to help his heart pump blood. FOX 16
