  • 19-year-old Cozy was adopted by Tim and Anna Dietrich on Monday after spending nearly 15 years — 5,429 days — in foster care; the new family celebrated by visiting a park and enjoying his favorite meal.  FOX 16

  • Jay Duplass came to Arkansas today to give a talk called 'How to Make Movies in the Apocalypse' that explained how filmmakers must keep creating even when the film world is tough—he shared his story from early struggles to a Sundance breakthrough.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Plaintiffs in a federal lawsuit contesting a state law that requires the Ten Commandments in public school classrooms have asked a federal judge for permission to add the Conway Public School District to the case.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Gov. Sanders and the Arkansas Economic Development Commission announced 65 grants totaling $11.9 million from Community Development Block and Rural Community Grant programs to fund infrastructure projects—such as water improvements, wastewater upgrades, and road repairs—across the state.  FOX 16
  • On Friday, a federal court filing asked to add Conway schools to a lawsuit challenging a law that requires classrooms to display the 10 Commandments. Conway parents said the rule forces their children to see religious messages they do not support—especially since a temporary injunction on Aug. 4 blocked the law in other districts.  FOX 16

  • Arkansas basketball's 5-star target Caleb Holt will make an official visit to Fayetteville during the Alabama A&M football game weekend from Aug 29—31. He is the No. 6 overall recruit, the No. 2 small forward nationally for class 2026, and he played for the USA team that won the FIBA U19 World Cup.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Gordy McKeown of Little Rock advanced at the U.S. Senior Amateur at Oak Hills Country Club—he held a 3-up lead against Sweden’s Goran Hagegard and will face Joe Sawaia at 9:20 a.m. today. Little Rock’s Jack O’Keefe lost his first-round match to Spain’s Jacobo Cestino after a close contest.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
