- ➤ Pulaski County deputies arrested 37-year-old Carl Walker Jr. on Friday at his Jacksonville home at 2 Ham Court after a search warrant found 30 files of child abuse material on his online accounts—he also did not register as a sex offender when he moved to Jacksonville in 2024. - ➤ An internal review by the Arkansas Department of Corrections found that lax policy enforcement allowed inmate Grant Hardin to escape from North Central Unit in May—confusion delayed the search until officers recaptured him on June 6 in Izard County. Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

- ➤ In 1948, Malvern had U.S. 67 paved through town and many tourists came until traffic was later diverted to Interstate 30 by 1965—one spot that drew visitors was the Horn Palace where souvenirs made from steer horns and pottery were shown. Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

- ➤ Governor Sanders announced Friday morning that Aaron Abbott has been appointed to the Arkansas Board of Education to serve parents, educators and students in Little Rock—he will serve until June 30 replacing Kathy McFetridge. ABC 7
- ➤ Arkansas state officials and five local teenage actors announced on Friday the new Street Smart curriculum designed to teach middle schoolers key road safety skills — the program features nine videos, worksheets, quizzes and games to help students learn proper seat belt use and pedestrian safety. The curriculum was developed jointly by the Departments of Transportation — Education to be taught to sixth- through eighth-graders, aiming to build lifelong safe driving habits.
