- ➤ Little Rock nonprofit The Van has signed a contract for a new building that will serve as a permanent emergency shelter — it will offer showers, bathrooms, cots and meals to people in need. The facility is expected to open in November and is located outside the city with multiple entry points and a working sewer system. FOX 16

- ➤ This weekend, entertainment events fill Little Rock and North Little Rock as Wingstock brings an all-you-can-eat wing contest at Simmons Bank Arena Saturday from noon to 2 p.m.—including awards for People’s Choice and Golden Wing—while art exhibitions and a British band concert offer more cultural choices. - ➤ A $2 million project honoring Arkansas music history was announced on August 12 in downtown North Little Rock's Argenta Historic District. The outdoor pavilion at Argenta Plaza will show 21 busts—including an eight-foot bronze Johnny Cash statue made by Arkansas artist Kevin Kresse—and it has raised $600,000 so far from public and private funds.
