Little Rock nonprofit The Van has signed a contract for a new building that will serve as a permanent emergency shelter — it will offer showers, bathrooms, cots and meals to people in need.

The facility is expected to open in November and is located outside the city with multiple entry points and a working sewer system.

A $2 million project honoring Arkansas music history was announced on August 12 in downtown North Little Rock's Argenta Historic District.
