EDUCATION NEWS

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Tuesday, death row inmates filed a lawsuit in state court to challenge a law signed by Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders that allows executions by nitrogen gas, arguing it gives prison officials unconstitutionally broad power over their method of execution—Attorney General Tim Griffin said his office will defend the law. The inmates also claim the law unfairly applies to those sentenced to lethal injection and that its lack of detail raises serious concerns about its administration.  ABC 7
  • On August 5, new laws went into effect to keep road workers safe in Arkansas—doubling fines in mobile work zones, allowing green flashing lights on work vehicles, and adding work zone safety tips to the driver test.
