- ➤ The Central Arkansas Library System main branch will reopen on Saturday, Sept. 20 at Library Square in the River Market District at 100 Rock Street after a long remodel that added a video studio—podcast rooms, teaching kitchens and a rooftop patio. CALS officials will host a celebration from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and note the upgrade was funded by millages in 2021 and 2022 with an increased budget to add extra features. FOX 16

- ➤ Entergy Arkansas Inc. informed the Arkansas Public Service Commission that it will submit an application to build a 754-megawatt natural gas-fired power plant in Jefferson County—its financing will come from a rate increase planned for 2026. Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

- ➤ Tina Dobbins said her world was shattered when her son Christopher was fatally shot in January by parolee Brandon Jefferson—released early despite a long history of crimes—and she believes tougher parole rules are needed after he later accepted a 50-year sentence in March. KARK
- ➤ The FBI warned Arkansans today that scammers are using artificial intelligence to create realistic frauds, including a TikTok video seen by 2.2 million people where a scammer threatened a family member with violence if money was sent via Zelle. Special Agent Alicia Corder said victims have lost life savings and seniors are often targeted by cryptocurrency scams—authorities urge reporting of suspected scams within 72 hours—while law enforcement works to recover lost funds. - ➤ Pulaski County has begun reconfiguring the busy Kanis—Denny—Stewart intersection to improve traffic flow and safety after years of community concerns. Construction started on July 24 and the work will finish by August 2026 as drivers are guided by new traffic signs. THV 11
- ➤ On July 24th, the executive director of the Little Rock housing authority said prospective lenders expressed interest in financing a resolution for the foreclosure affecting more than 200 units at the Madison Heights apartment complex + officials are close to securing more time to negotiate a solution. - ➤ Act 662 will go into effect on August 5—allowing prosecutors to seek the death penalty for child rapists of children 13 or younger—and it comes from Senate Bill 375 backed by State Sen. Matt Stone. Prosecuting Attorney Brandon Carter said the law will be applied only after a careful review due to its serious penalty and potential legal challenges. KARK
