  • Tina Dobbins, a grieving Little Rock mother, said her 30 year old son Christopher was shot in January on Broadway Street in North Little Rock after parolee Brandon Jefferson—who had a long criminal record and was released early—killed him, and she urged tougher parole policies and increased support for parole officers to help prevent future violence.  FOX 16

  • Conway’s NativState announced a deal with TotalEnergies to protect 247,000 acres across Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee by promoting improved forest management and offering family forest landowners technical help—Simmons First National Corp. priced a public offering of 16,220,000 shares on Wednesday to raise about $300 million for general corporate purposes while the Arkansas Index closed Tuesday with a 27.50 point rise amid mixed earnings reports.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

  • A new list shares phone numbers for transportation, food, and other services from public school districts in the Little Rock area.   • John Langston, a former Pulaski County circuit judge, died in Little Rock on Tuesday, July 22 following a brief illness, his daughter said. He was 84.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

  • Healthcare professionals warned that proposed Medicaid cuts in Arkansas could reduce funding for rural hospitals—nearly 40% of Arkansans live in rural areas—and experts fear this may lead to higher maternal and infant deaths. A state senator argued the cuts would benefit taxpayers, but local doctors and health experts disagree.  ABC 7
