  • Pulaski County resident Bryan Burrow declined a judge's offer of 30 years behind bars because he wanted a second chance in a system where nearly half of released inmates return to prison + his decision comes amid Arkansas' third-highest incarceration rate.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Little Rock police arrested Larry Turner, 53, on Saturday night after responding to a domestic-related call and locating four non-life-threatening gunshot victims at Parris Towers, 1800 Broadway (one victim identified him as the shooter) and charged him with two counts of first-degree battery and firearm possession.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

  • Recent BEA releases show Arkansas ranked first in real GDP for two quarters in late 2024 and fifth in the first quarter, proving that claims of a 49th-place ranking are unfounded—data also show our state led in agriculture and durable goods manufacturing to boost economic growth.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Nonprofit BRAKES will bring a teen driver safety program to Little Rock this weekend to teach emergency car control after the National Safety Council said crashes are the leading cause of teen deaths. The training will let teens and their parents practice safe driving in a controlled parking lot — learning proper reactions to panic situations.  ABC 7
  • The Arkansas Department of Education has not yet presented new rules on Educational Freedom Accounts to the state Board of Education after it promised clearer guidelines in May—officials say the revised draft is still pending review.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
