- ➤ The Quapaw Quarter Association thanked volunteers on June 18 with an evening get-together in the gardens behind the Violin Shop downtown for their help during its 60th Tour of Homes held over Mother’s Day weekend (the tour included a stop at a historic building saved from demolition). - ➤ Last Saturday, local gardeners met at Two Rivers Park for a new farmers market where they sold extra produce grown on their $50 garden plots. Judge Barry Hyde said the market will run every Saturday until the end of August from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. — all 400 fully rented plots underline the program’s success. THV 11
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Little Rock police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Friday night around 9:42 p.m. about 1.5 miles southeast of the I-430 and I-630 interchange on Karon Court—officers found an adult male with a gunshot wound who died at the scene despite emergency treatment. - ➤ Police in Pulaski County investigated seven homicides in June, raising the first half death toll for 2025 to 39, a total that is slightly higher than last year at that point but lower than counts reported in early 2022 and 2023. Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

- ➤ Chase Utley, a former Little Rock assistant principal, filed an appeal with the Arkansas Court of Appeals to restore his teaching license after the state board revoked it for sending 611 texts to a student over 15 days.
