  • Edward 'Doc' Rosby, a much-loved bus driver for Pulaski County Special School District who served 27 years, was honored with a tribute after he died on June 20. His family turned his casket into a school bus and added his final route number—517—to celebrate his dedication.  ABC 7

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • After a 2023 accident left doctors giving a Little Rock student a 20% chance of survival, he is now thriving — studying to help others like him.  THV 11

CRIME NEWS

  • City leaders in Little Rock said crime dropped a lot after a coordinated drive to boost public safety—officials believe the new steps are working well.  THV 11
  • Police said a man found dead in January on Fourche Creek was killed in December in North Little Rock—suspect Tashaun Yancy was arrested on June 4 and pleaded innocent in court.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Little Rock housing authority’s sale of a 9-acre parcel at 9100 Cameron Drive collapsed when Eminent Constructions cancelled the contract—its inspection revealed that past improvements were too deteriorated to justify remediation. The board, led by Monty Baugh, has now directed staff to clean the property and seek rezoning to light commercial or industrial use.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Friday night the Arkansas Travelers defeated the Frisco RoughRiders 2 to 0 at Dickey-Stephens Park. Pitcher Adam Seminaris held Frisco to six hits as the bullpen struck out seven batters, earning the Travelers their fifth win in seven days.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Nearly 1,500 runners participated in the 49th Firecracker Fast 5K on Fourth of July morning in Little Rock as the 3.1-mile course began at Kavanaugh and University and ended at War Memorial Stadium. Team USA Paralympic athlete Kaitlin Bounds (who has autism) broke her record with a time of 16 minutes, 19 seconds while Pete Johnson won the men’s race in 14 minutes, 27 seconds.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Little Rock hosted the 49th Annual Firecracker Fast 5K on July 4 when 23-year-old Pete Johnson from Celina, Texas, won the men's race in 14:27 and 33-year-old Kaitlin Bounds from Russellville won the women's race in 16:19 — Johnson also claimed victory last year. The 3.1-mile race started at Kavanaugh and University and finished at War Memorial Stadium — drawing 1,487 runners with a 7:30 a.m. start.  FOX 16
