  • On Tuesday, the Little Rock Zoo held a groundbreaking ceremony to start its expansion project that will add new exhibits such as a capybara area, anteater display and updated reptile house features. The project will finish in 14 to 16 months and offer more interactive ways for families to enjoy the zoo—an effort to keep visitors engaged.  FOX 16

  • Authorities are searching for Atom Wilson, a 1-year-old boy reported missing Tuesday from Park Plaza Mall on West Markham, who was last seen wearing a blue and white shirt, blue jeans, and Disney character shoes and may be with his mother, Kendoyln Wilson, traveling in a gray 2025 Kia K5 to Alabama or Georgia—call Little Rock Police at 501-371-4829 with any information.  KARK
  • North Little Rock police responded Tuesday at 2:37 p.m. to a call on the 1600 block of Chandler Street east of Pike Avenue — they found a man with obvious trauma who died at the scene while the cause of death remains under investigation.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Arkansas deer hunters can now register for the 2025-2026 Urban Archery Deer Hunts, which start on September 1 and require meeting safety, orientation, and archery requirements. Hunters must complete the International Bowhunters Education Program + attend an orientation, then pass an archery test + donate their first adult deer to join the hunt.  THV 11
  • Yesterday, the Little Rock Municipal Airport Commission approved a guaranteed maximum price of about $96.3 million to build a new central utility plant, geothermal system, and parking improvements at the airport. The project is part of a long-term redevelopment program that will cut on-site greenhouse gas emissions by 90%—the drilling for the geothermal wells will begin this fall and construction is set to finish by the end of 2027.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

  • Arkansas Children's Hospital announced it received a $1 million gift from the Bale family to endow a pediatric interventional radiology chair honoring Dr. Joanna Seibert and Dr. Robert Seibert. The chair will support research to improve patient care.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
