  • Five Arkansas companies were named to Forbes’ Global 2000 list with Walmart ranked No. 18 plus Tyson Foods, J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Murphy USA and Bank OZK also included. Forbes compiled the list using sales, profits, assets and market value among 621 US companies plus 321 firms from China.  KARK
  • At a Juneteenth in Da Rock brunch in Little Rock, Afro Unicorn CEO April Showers spoke about her company’s growth and future plans while highlighting recent successes — the talk showed her brand is building strong momentum locally.  THV 11

  • A Hot Springs woman who had been missing for over a year was found at a Little Rock gas station and identified herself as Tori Milsak — police later arrested her on an outstanding warrant.  ABC 7

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Donald Allen, a longtime Little Rock School District employee, filed a lawsuit on Thursday claiming his demotion and firing as safety and security captain were retaliatory after he raised concerns about alleged education law violations and misuse of funds. He said that after returning from administrative leave he was reassigned to oversee middle schools and later passed over for reappointment, and his attorneys are seeking compensatory damages and reinstatement.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The University of Arkansas has opened a new display garden in Hope where Dr. Anthony T. Bowden runs plant tests to find flowers and vegetables that grow well in local yards. The program, which uses reports from Master Gardeners in 32 counties—shows how plants grow with little care and helps choose the best for Arkansas gardens.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

FINANCE NEWS

  • A winning ticket from Jackpocket for the June 18 LOTTO drawing in Little Rock matched five numbers plus the bonus number, giving a $25,000 prize that must be claimed within 180 days. Saturday’s jackpot stands at $606,000 plus tickets cost $2 per play.  KARK

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On June 13, four Arkansans filed a federal lawsuit in the Eastern District of Arkansas against state agencies over the Educational Freedom Accounts – alleging the program violates the First Amendment and equal protection under the 14th Amendment. The suit claims the accounts favor certain religious views and create unequal access for students, while state officials defend the LEARNS Act – saying it promotes progress for children.  KARK
  • Governor Sanders appointed 11 new Justices of the Peace in several counties Friday morning—each filling an unfinished term ending December 31. The appointments cover counties such as Carroll, Chicot, Hempstead, Hot Spring, Johnson, Searcy, Sebastian, St. Francis, Van Buren and Woodruff.  ABC 7
