CRIME NEWS

  • Little Rock police are investigating a deadly shooting on Colonel Glenn Road that occurred early Saturday at 2:30 a.m.—officers responded to the 6800 block with reports of a shooting and found an unidentified man with a gunshot wound who died at the scene.  FOX 16

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Little Rock author Phyllis Hodges has had her three living history books placed in over 60 school districts, 25 public libraries and 15 museums across the state and beyond. This fall, Watson Chapel School District will use the books during weekly lessons—bringing local trailblazer stories and diverse role models directly to students.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Arkansas Department of Transportation will hold a meeting Tuesday, June 17 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Life Church of Little Rock (9415 Stagecoach Road) to discuss changes to Arkansas 5, and the public can submit written comments online until 4:30 p.m. July 2.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Arkansans can visit all 52 free state parks and many low-cost attractions — such as Subiaco Abbey and Mount Magazine State Park — to enjoy outdoor adventures this summer.   • Punter Connor Smith from Clintwood, Va. committed to Arkansas after his visit to Fayetteville this week—he chose the Razorbacks over offers from schools like Alabama and Missouri while praising the coaching staff and campus.   • Little Rock Central celebrated a historic win as coach Aaron Butler led the girls wrestling team to its first-ever state championship, earning him the All-Arkansas Preps Coach of the Year award.
