- ➤ A Conway man jumped into the ocean during a Carnival cruise stop in Costa Maya, Mexico, to help save a stranger who was struggling to breathe. Crew rescued both men after 10 minutes in the water — a heroic moment that quickly went viral. ABC 7

- ➤ Fidel Samour of Remolinos Group announced that the reopening date for Loca Luna at 3519 Old Cantrell Road will depend on this week's invitation-only soft opening lunches and dinners. - ➤ The Arkansas Symphony Orchestra named Matthew Pavon as its new associate conductor and he will join on Aug. 1 in Little Rock to lead the Youth Orchestra and support youth programs (Pavon is moving with his wife Leianna and their two mini-Australian Shepherds from Northwest Arkansas). - ➤ Historian Ronnie Nichols will discuss his new book 'Freedom! Lest We Forget' this Thursday at the MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History in Little Rock. - ➤ Arkansas Scholarship Lottery officials warned players today about a new video call scam where a caller is pretending to offer winning million-dollar tickets and stressed that winners are only contacted via the official Club app (as advised by Executive Director Sharon Strong). ABC 7
- ➤ Governor Sanders ordered that flags be flown at half-staff on May 30 from sunrise to sunset to honor fallen service member Royle Bradford Luker, a WWII veteran who died at Pearl Harbor. His burial at New Bethel Cemetery near Plainview marked a day of remembrance for his service + sacrifice. THV 11
- ➤ The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has opened applications for white-tailed deer WMA permits for fall hunts, available until July 1 (applications require a $5 nonrefundable processing fee per hunt). Youth hunters ages 6 to 15 and individual or group applicants must follow the party hunt code system. ABC 7
