  • Maumelle Aquatic Center has opened for summer today as recertified lifeguards begin duty amid staffing shortages + city staff remind visitors to follow safety rules. The center plans to add events including a new food truck park later this season.  THV 11
  • Julie Delashaw, an outreach librarian with North Little Rock Library System, has made 328 homebound deliveries since January, providing over 1,100 items to seniors + careful support to younger patrons who rely on the service.   • The 2026–27 Arkansas Wildlife calendar now features QR codes that link to wildlife sounds paired with photos and artwork, letting subscribers use their smartphone to listen indoors or out. It is available only with a magazine subscription for the July–Aug issue.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Arkansas turkey hunters recorded 13,591 birds during the season that ended May 10 — the highest spring harvest since 2006 — and officials say that conservative seasons and habitat improvements helped boost the number of mature gobblers.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

  • Arkansas baseball did not host a regional at Baum-Walker Stadium after NCAA chair Michael Alford said tougher schedules and stronger wins by other teams led to Mississippi State being selected — coach Dave Van Horn admitted the team was surprised by the decision.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Arkansas football coach Ryan Silverfield and his staff will welcome 20+ official visitors this weekend in Fayetteville as they assess top prospects for the Razorbacks.   • UALR baseball hosted an NCAA Tournament selection show watch party Monday morning at the Jack Stephens Center after winning its second straight OVC title.   • After taking a line drive off his shin against Texas on Friday, left-hander Hunter Dietz is on track according to coach Dave Van Horn to pitch in the NCAA Lawrence Regional this weekend (the Razorbacks will decide his starting role after his bullpen session).  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
