ECONOMY NEWS

  • Arkansas' unemployment rate held at 4.3% for April as the labor force dropped by 853 workers, state Commerce and Labor officials reported Friday. Employment reached a record high for a fourth month in a row while labor participation slipped to 59.1%.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Hayden Balgavy & Karen Fuller presented Arkansas’s morning headlines on Friday, May 22, which included updates on charter school improvement plans in the community.  THV 11
  • Sherwood education advocates are pushing to split from the Pulaski County Special School District after a federal desegregation case ended in February, commissioning a feasibility study to assess the plan's viability. The proposal awaits district board and state approval, with voters set to decide on forming a Sherwood school district.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

  • The historic Pike-Fletcher-Terry House — known as Terry Mansion — is listed for sale at $995,000 at 411 E. 7th St. in the MacArthur Park Historic District. The property served as a museum until 2013 and remains in good condition after past legal disputes.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
