ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A fire burned several units at Terra Vista Apartments at 4811 Terra Vista Circle in Little Rock on Wednesday at 2:13 a.m.—the blaze caused tenant displacement, no injuries were reported, and the cause remains under investigation.  ABC 7

CRIME NEWS

  • A Little Rock man was arrested after fatally shooting his girlfriend at his 4415 W. 24th St. home early Monday—witnesses said he acted on his suspicions of her infidelity during a fight—police confirmed.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

CULTURE NEWS

  • Steve H. Broadnax III will premiere his new play with music, Me and the Devil, next week at Arkansas Repertory Theatre in Little Rock. The show retells the Robert Johnson myth in a 1938 southeast Arkansas setting and marks the opening of the 2025 SummerStage season—tickets range from $25 to $65.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

ECONOMY NEWS

  • The Arkansas Department of Commerce and the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that the state’s unemployment rate stayed at 3.7% in April. The report showed that 14,459 more people were employed and nonfarm payroll jobs reached a record high of 1,386,400 while the national rate held at 4.2%.  ABC 7

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On Wednesday, the final steel beam was placed atop Pinnacle View High School in western Little Rock amid cheers from students, parents, and staff. The 320,000-square-foot school—funded by voter-approved tax millage and set to open in 2027-28—will serve up to 1,200 students.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

  • A bench trial over Little Rock’s removal of the Confederate statue at MacArthur Park is set for today at 9 a.m. in Pulaski County Circuit Court—Judge Patricia James will preside as attorney Joey McCutchen represents taxpayer James Frank Clark III in his lawsuit against the city.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
