  • State lawmakers of the Arkansas Legislative Hunger Caucus will serve as wait staff for the annual Serving Up Solutions gala at 6 p.m. on May 21 at the Albert Pike Masonic Center (712 Scott St.).   • Dillard’s Inc. reported on Thursday a Q1 profit of $250.6 million (or $16.04 per share) that beat analyst expectations with revenue of $1.57 billion and 3 percent sales growth.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

  • Middle school student Hilt Boling became a viral sensation after his remark during NASA’s Artemis II launch in April and now shares his passion for space on his YouTube channel. He plans to attend more launches and eventually start his own aerospace company.  THV 11

EDUCATION NEWS

  • New state data shows Arkansas homeschool students in the EFA program scored higher than private school students on standardized tests, with math and reading percentiles at 63 and 68 compared to 55 and 57 — a finding that may influence future funding as lawmakers review program regulations.  THV 11

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Arkansas State Crime Lab confirmed the state's first overdose death from the synthetic opioid cychlorphine — a substance up to 10 times more potent than fentanyl.  THV 11
  • On Saturday, Apr. 25 the DEA held the 30th National Prescription Drug Take Back Day and Arkansas collected a record 50,240 lbs of unneeded medications from local drop boxes. Officials say the event helped remove dangerous drugs from homes and contributed to a national total of over 642,000 lbs.  ABC 7
