CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Two Sebastian County deputies were attacked by inmate John Anthony Cole on Friday at 2:30 p.m. during a routine check at a detention center—one deputy is recovering after surgery and a regular room transfer while the other, who was initially released, was treated and is doing well as Cole remains in custody awaiting trial on charges of murder and firearm possession. - ➤ CDC data released on Wednesday showed that overdose deaths in Arkansas fell from 528 in 2023 to 388 in 2024—a 26.52 percent reduction, even though totals were underreported. The decline suggests that public health efforts saved more than 81 lives each day. KARK
