  • Walmart Inc said on Tuesday that it will cut 1,000 jobs — mostly tech roles — as part of its plan to streamline operations locally.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • A new LEGO store will open in late summer at The Promenade at Chenal, making it the second official LEGO store after the one at Pinnacle Hills Promenade in Rogers.  ABC 7

  • North Little Rock will celebrate the Old Mill's 50th anniversary with a 'party like it’s 1976' Saturday from 1-4 p.m. at T.R. Pugh Memorial Park, 3800 Lakeshore Drive—Mayor Terry Hartwick will speak at a tree planting honoring Sandra Taylor Smith.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

HEALTH NEWS

  • Scientists at UAMS discovered a way to train immune cells to clear dead cells and regrow eye nerves after injuries and disease. The research shows that blocking the HDAC3 enzyme may restore vision and lead to new treatments for patients with diabetic retinopathy and traumatic optic neuropathy.  THV 11

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Property for a future hotel at The Middle development at 4123 N. Rodney Parham Road sold on May 7 for $1.5 million to DJ Hospitality, LLC; the 1.64 acre site near Cantrell + Rodney Parham roads will see construction begin this fall with an opening planned for fall 2027.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

  • The Arkansas women’s golf team earned a berth in the NCAA Championship after finishing third at the Simpsonville Regional on Wednesday at the University of Louisville Golf Course despite windy play.
