- ➤ UAMS hosted a community donation drive at the Milk Bank on Monroe Street on Saturday morning during Mother's Day weekend. The event collected donations to provide pasteurized donor milk for sick infants—tens of thousands of feedings have been provided since the program began in 2023. KARK
- ➤ The Buzz held its 21st Annual Doublebee's Buzz-B-Q on May 10 at the Downtown Riverside RV Park in North Little Rock where over 50 teams competed in barbecue cook-offs for over $10,000 in cash and prizes—proceeds that benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of Arkansas and North Louisiana. The event featured judging in categories such as pork, ribs, chicken, sauce, brisket, and side dish and included live music with a People’s Choice vote. ABC 7

- ➤ A Texas man named Lavert Hart was sentenced in federal court in Little Rock to 8 years in prison for stealing an ATM cassette with $100,000 from a Batesville bank maintenance crew on April 15, 2022; he will also serve 3 years of supervised release and pay $100,000 in restitution. - ➤ Bernie Babcock from Little Rock launched the Little Rock Sketch Book in July 1906 as a quarterly periodical that showcased local arts and promoted nearby businesses—each issue featured articles on community institutions and profiles of local figures. She later published over 40 novels and became the first Arkansas woman in Authors and Writers Who’s Who before working in Chicago and returning home to support local culture.
