COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Little Rock's Kiwanis Park reopened today with a state-of-the-art playground featuring the Smart Play Bolo system and many new amenities. Renovations include a repaved walking trail, a re-roofed pavilion, upgraded lighting, new picnic tables and a water fountain — improvements aimed at boosting safety and accessibility.  ABC 7

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Freight hauler and logistics company ArcBest reported a net income of $3.1 million for the first quarter on Tuesday — the statement did not include further details.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

CRIME NEWS

  • A licensed Arkansas doctor was arrested and charged with drugging and sexually assaulting a victim plus secretly recording a naked child.  THV 11

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Officials said on Tuesday that Little Rock will soon see a $1 billion, 300,000-square-foot data center—the largest economic development capital investment in the city's history.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Little Rock homeowners must pay to remove storm debris after large trees fell on their properties, city officials said. City crews are available to pick up the debris—if a federal disaster declaration is approved, the city may help offset costs in wards 1 and 3.  ABC 7

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Arkansas Department of Health announced a fourth measles case in Faulkner County this week in a person who was not fully vaccinated and had no travel history outside the state. The patient visited Conway Regional Greenbrier Family Medicine on April 18 from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and April 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. plus Irby Dance Studio on April 23 from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., and officials urge anyone who visited these sites to get an MMR vaccine.  THV 11
  • The state Department of Health reported the first case of measles contracted in Arkansas, which brings the total number of cases reported since early April to four.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • The Arkansas Department of Health confirmed a fourth measles case in Faulkner County—its first community spread this year—as a not fully vaccinated patient visited Conway Regional Greenbrier Family Medicine on April 18 and April 21 and Irby Dance Studio on April 23. Health officials have updated MMR vaccine recommendations for citizens in Faulkner and nearby counties.  ABC 7
