COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Little Rock Compassion Center has launched New Horizons, a transitional housing facility in a renovated state office building on West Roosevelt Street. Residents who work full-time can stay up to two years for $700 per month, which covers room+board and utilities.  ABC 7

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Priority1, a local logistics provider, will expand its operations by leasing a second full floor at the Regions Center tower at 400 West Capitol — a move expected to help revitalize the downtown building.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

  • Michael Marion, Simmons Bank Arena's general manager, is celebrating 50 years in music and nearly 30 years in North Little Rock. His career has included tours with major acts (Tina Turner and Paul McCartney) and he continues to lead local concerts with dedication.  THV 11

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Jacksonville High School was locked down Monday for 30 minutes after a resident reported a person jumping over the fence with what appeared to be a gun — officials later found the student had no weapon and will face disciplinary action.  ABC 7

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Arkansas Department of Agriculture is accepting applications for specialty crop grants through May 8. Eligible producers, community groups and institutions must request at least $20,000 & show how their proposals will benefit the broader crop industry.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

SPORTS NEWS

  • Finnish basketball star Miikka Muurinen committed Monday to join Arkansas' top 2026 recruiting class. Coach John Calipari said Muurinen brings elite athleticism (boosting the Razorbacks as they aim to maintain their top national ranking).  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
