HEALTH NEWS

  • Dr. Lowry Barnes, UAMS chancellor and seasoned orthopedic surgeon, celebrated his 66th birthday today while guiding expansion at UAMS, including the new $85 million TOSH featuring 10 operating rooms and 24 private rooms — he plans to raise research funding and enhance rural care.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

  • Arkansas football will hold its Red-White spring game at Reynolds Razorback Stadium today at 2 p.m., featuring two 15-minute first-half quarters and a situational second half (with quarterbacks off limits) and will be broadcast on Razorback Sports Network’s radio affiliates.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Arkansas running back Mike Washington was selected in the fourth round — number 122 overall — by the Las Vegas Raiders on Saturday, becoming the first Arkansas running back drafted since 2018 after he transferred from Buffalo and New Mexico State and impressed with his combine speed.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • After the NFL Draft ended Saturday, Arkansas football players signed with NFL teams as undrafted free agents, including former Razorbacks Corey Robinson (Bengals), Cam Ball (Colts), Rohan Jones (Rams) and Xavian Sorey (Raiders).  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Taylen Green, the first Arkansas quarterback chosen since 2016, was picked in the sixth round by the Cleveland Browns on Saturday after a strong season with the Razorbacks. He set combine records with a 43.5-inch vertical jump and a 4.37-second 40-yard dash.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Arkansas offensive lineman Fernando Carmona was selected in the fifth round of the NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans Saturday. He transferred from San Jose State and played two seasons at Arkansas before switching from left tackle to guard.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
