CULTURE NEWS

  • Residents can join The Spot’s paint night on May 1 for a creative evening. The second annual Fowl & Flame will run from 4-9 p.m. Nov. 21 at Guess and Company’s Christmas Warehouse and feature live music by country singer Justin Moore with bourbon tastings and outdoor exhibits.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

EDUCATION NEWS

  • At a Thursday board meeting, the Little Rock School District discussed claims that Central High’s softball players face unequal training conditions, with a poorly maintained practice park compared to the baseball team+ whose field received upgrades, and district attorney David Kizzia will provide recommendations soon.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Saline County officials urge residents to sign up for the Code Red alert system that sends severe weather warnings by text, call, or email. The system, which expanded from 5,600 to about 84,000 subscribers since 2024, will help keep the community informed as severe weather approaches.  ABC 7

HEALTH NEWS

  • Rep. Aaron Pilkington urged lawmakers to keep WIC accessible to Arkansas families by preventing rules that would force new moms to register in person instead of online. The federal program supports nearly 62,000 families and helps ensure healthy pregnancies — a vital benefit for the community.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

SPORTS NEWS

  • Arkansas football's Charlie Collins is set to excel in the Razorbacks' new Jack role after rejoining the team on Jan. 7 in a system led by defensive coordinator Ron Roberts and coach Jake Jiannoni. Collins said he loves the role's mix of pass rush and edge defense.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
