  • Producers Bank & Trust will open its first Little Rock branch on May 1 at 11300 Cantrell Road. CULTURE NEWS

  • Crystal Bridges Museum will host Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett for the Building Bridges conversation series on Saturday, May 9, at 6 p.m. The event will cover judicial decision-making and the American legal system while being livestreamed by Arkansas TV.  ABC 7

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Five high school seniors and five teachers have received $5,000 Stephens Awards from City Education Trust to support their academic and extracurricular efforts. The awards were established in 1985 by brothers Jackson T. Stephens and W.R. Stephens.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Governor Sanders launched a #RazorbackReady2026 fitness challenge that asks Arkansas students to post a video of completing the Presidential Fitness Test on social media until May 22 (entries are judged on creativity and student participation).   • A Sherwood mother said her son thrives academically and socially after joining a private school from the state voucher program, but losing free school meals has forced her family to stretch a tight grocery budget+ raising concerns over fair resource distribution.   • Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins has appointed five Arkansas farmers to join the USDA Farm Service Agency state panel – a move set to boost local farming strategies.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

HEALTH NEWS

  • Arkansas Center for Nursing hosted its Leadership and Legacy Awards at the Benton Event Center yesterday, honoring nurse leaders under 40 and veteran nurses with 20+ years of service. The event recognized the dedication of the state’s nursing workforce.  ABC 7

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • A Little Rock apartment complex once known as Big Country Chateau reopens as Hampshire at Casona under new management and is now listing rental units online. City officials say the change is part of efforts to expand affordable housing while new improvements are underway.  THV 11

  • Arkansas baseball will host Missouri State today at 6 p.m. at Baum-Walker Stadium in a rematch of a 10-inning contest from March 31; the Razorbacks dropped from 17th to 24th in the Coaches Poll after a 26-14 series loss to Georgia.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • During spring practice, defensive coordinator Ron Roberts said the Razorbacks are building a deep, versatile front with seasoned players and promising freshmen like Danny Beale.
