COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Aaron Reddin stepped down as executive director of The Van (a nonprofit providing food, water, clothing, and shelter) due to health struggles, and Parker Reid has been named his successor while Reddin remains on the board effective immediately.  ABC 7

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Idaho-based energy storage startup Kore Power was in talks with the Port to evaluate a Zeuber Road site for a battery gigafactory that could bring 800-1,000 jobs. The project is still in preliminary stages and needs a natural gas city gate to power onsite turbines.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today the flashing red traffic signal at Kanis and Stewart roads directs drivers through delays as paving continues with final work expected by the end of April. Traffic will shift Tuesday, April 21 when Denny Road closes for westbound travel.  ABC 7

HEALTH NEWS

  • The USDA confirmed Arkansas’ first highly pathogenic avian influenza outbreak of 2026 was detected in a commercial flock in Clay County and further testing will guide containment efforts.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Public comment is open through May 1 on a planned data center project near Sweet Home that would add five industrial buildings and office space — the project would fill 16.8 acres of wetlands and 6,000 feet of streams near Fourche Bayou. Local groups ask for clear guidelines to protect nearby neighborhoods.  ABC 7

SPORTS NEWS

  • Arkansas softball remains ranked No. 6 after its (2 to 1) win at Mississippi State; the Razorbacks will travel to No. 1 Oklahoma on Friday at 7 p.m., marking their first top-six series in program history.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

  • ESPN 5‑star forward Paul Osaruyi from Bella Vista Prep plans to visit Arkansas, according to Jonathan Givony, as he continues his recruitment journey. He also will visit North Carolina and remains in the 2027 class after considering reclassification.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Arkansas and UAPB face off tonight at Dickey-Stephens Park in North Little Rock (first pitch at 6 p.m.), with left-hander Colin Fisher starting for Arkansas while UAPB is set to use multiple pitchers as a top SWAC contender.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Cal Poly transfer punter Jesse Ehrlich committed to join Arkansas football as a walk-on Tuesday. The (6-2) athlete averaged a 43.1-yard punt at Cal Poly and aims to strengthen the Razorbacks' special teams.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Gymnast Hailey Klein competed in 55 of 56 meets and helped the Razorbacks reach the NCAA championships; she will perform all four events in a semifinal on Thursday at 8:00 p.m. Central at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
