ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A fire on Saturday night on the 1400 block of West 55th Street in North Little Rock destroyed two unoccupied homes and damaged a third as crews arrived around 8:45 p.m. and saved a nearby occupied home while they investigated the cause with no injuries reported. KARK
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On Saturday, rescue workers removed animals from a hoarded North Little Rock home—27 dogs, 4 cats, a rooster and 2 pigs—and a suspect was arrested and charged with 41 counts of animal cruelty while many animals received temporary foster care. FOX 16
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Arkansas Research Alliance awarded nearly $2 million in grants to research campuses across the state—helping pay for important university studies. The grants will let the campuses start new research projects that may boost local learning and innovation. Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

- ➤ April 2025 has already ranked 6th for wettest Aprils in Little Rock with nearly double the usual rainfall mainly recorded from April 2 to April 5; forecasts show an extra half inch to one inch of rain from April 18 to April 20 that may extend flood warnings on the White River and the Ouachita River+ officials urge local residents to stay alert. - ➤ Attorney General Tim Griffin showed a new meeting room in the historic Boyle Building on April 9—but he plans to move his 175 employees to the building at Capitol and Main because their current office had shortcomings. He took office in 2023 with a promise to improve working conditions for his team. Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
- ➤ Today, Arkansas lawmakers begin their session by debating a state general budget, using several hundred million dollars from surplus funds and reviewing constitutional amendments for the 2026 election—before they recess on Wednesday. - ➤ Several dozen people gathered Sunday at UAMS campus (downtown) for the 10th annual symposium focused on Parkinson’s disease.
