  • A New York nonprofit has placed six billboards this week in Little Rock to urge residents to support their Jewish neighbors against antisemitism. The initiative promotes local unity and stands as a call to counter hate.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

CULTURE NEWS

  • Executive director Bevan Keating + communications director Christina Munoz announced in a THV11 studio interview that the Lanterns Festival for the Arts is happening soon at Wildwood Park to showcase local creativity.  THV 11
  • On Good Friday, Rolling Stone Films and Documentary+ released a film about an Arkansas preacher who ministers to inmates on death row. The film shows his work with condemned men and offers a thoughtful look at faith in action.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The North Little Rock School District said today that claims of teacher resignations and budget cuts are not completely accurate. District officials (reviewing financial plans) insist that they are addressing concerns with immediate reviews.  THV 11
  • Arkansas education officials are seeking waivers to reduce federal oversight and ease the LEARNS Act changes. They are accepting public comments until May 7 (an effort to streamline funding, accountability and assessments) ahead of the 2026-27 school year.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

SPORTS NEWS

  • Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame inducted 10 new members Friday evening at Oaklawn Event Center in Hot Springs. The ceremony honored active figures like football coaches Jerry Buck James and Nathan Brown (three inductees were posthumously recognized) while celebrating a wide range of sports achievements.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Arkansas soccer midfielder Aniyah Nurse-Whyte was named to the Canada U-20 camp for friendlies (in Costa Rica) on Apr. 13 and Apr. 16. She has been a key player for the Razorbacks and will showcase her talent on the international stage.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
