CRIME NEWS

CULTURE NEWS

  • A range of cultural events is set for this week across Little Rock and nearby areas, with Gypsy: A Musical Fable playing at Argenta Contemporary Theater from Wednesday through Saturday and Arkansas State University hosting its Delta Symposium from Wednesday through Friday starting at 12:30 p.m.—other events include a visiting poet reading by Marcelo Hernandez Castillo on Wednesday, a benefit dinner with Jane Chu on April 15 and a Delta Authors event on Saturday with free admission.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • In the decades after the Civil War, Arkansas veterans gathered in reunions to help each other return to normal life—many held memorial services, built monuments, and formed groups to support families.   • All four Pulaski County school districts dismissed students and staff early on Wednesday because severe storms and high winds were forecast, marking the third month this year that area schools missed instructional time — officials said.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Entergy Arkansas launched a new $20M college initiative that offers scholarships for Arkansans studying technology at Historically Black Colleges including UAPB and Philander Smith University, providing a path for students to advance in technical studies.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

  • Flash floods have damaged roads and homes across Arkansas, forcing 30 people to evacuate in Saline County—emergency services said rising water and strong winds have brought down trees that block many routes. Residents are urged to steer clear of flooded roads and travel with caution.  ABC 7
