COMMUNITY NEWS

  • At Providence Park in Mabelvale, volunteers gathered Saturday to plant over 50 trees for a soft fruit orchard set to support residents in permanent housing. The event taught soil health and sustainable practices while marking a lasting start for a thriving food forest (a community resource).  ABC 7

CULTURE NEWS

  • Central Arkansas is preparing for Wicked, the popular Broadway musical that will open at local theaters soon (details on dates and venues are pending).  THV 11
  • The Historic Arkansas Museum hosted its 53rd annual Territorial Fair today in downtown Little Rock, where families enjoyed hands-on activities, live music, and historical demonstrations. The museum partnered with the Quapaw Nation to offer traditional cultural experiences, and monthly craft sessions continue on the third Saturday.  ABC 7

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Philander Smith University secured $7 million for its nursing program, assisted by Senator John Boozman as part of a legislative package passed in February. The funding will be used to purchase a mobile health unit, expand health education facilities, and provide scholarships to nursing students.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

HEALTH NEWS

  • Today, I Care Outreach hosted a health fair at the Little Rock Compassion Center to provide unhoused residents with hygiene items, clothing, food, and essential supplies while offering practical health information. Organizer Isaac Traylor said his own experience with homelessness inspired the event.  ABC 7

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Spring is here and gardening season is underway; local experts, including Keaton Curtis (GM at Good Earth Garden Center), advise beginners and seasoned growers to choose container or in-ground planting for the healthiest growth in Little Rock.  ABC 7

SPORTS NEWS

  • After a 94-88 win last Sunday, Arkansas men's basketball remained in Sacramento to avoid lengthy travel. They practice today at the NBA’s Sacramento Kings facility as they prepare to face either Arizona or Utah State in the Sweet 16 game in San Jose.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Arkansas lost 9-4 to South Carolina on Sunday, March 22 in Columbia (S.C.), as right fielder Zack Stewart recorded a milestone hit while nearly every pitcher ended streaks during the challenging game.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
