COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Little Rock Peace Walk will kick off on Saturday, March 21 (meeting details will follow) as a chance for residents to unite. Organizers say the event will promote community peace and togetherness.  THV 11

CULTURE NEWS

  • Country singer Travis Tritt will perform his biggest hits on Friday, June 12 at The Theater at Simmons Bank Arena (North Little Rock), with ticket details and show time set to be announced at 10 a.m. Friday on Ticketmaster.com.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

ECONOMY NEWS

  • State legislators approved a $90,000 contract Tuesday with Renaissance Energy Advisors Limited to provide a strategic roadmap for Arkansas’ role in the global lithium supply chain. The report will guide the state on targeting companies and incentives as local leaders plan future development in southwest Arkansas.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Arkansas Department of Education approved Hall High’s conversion to a charter school after months of uncertainty and low enrollment. The school celebrated its boys’ basketball state championship (with 200 students already registered for next year) and will host open houses after spring break to introduce its new personalized curriculum.  THV 11

SPORTS NEWS

  • The No. 9 Arkansas women’s golf team finished second at the Betsy Rawls Invitational in Austin on Tuesday. Junior Maria Jose Marin posted a final-round 69 as the top Razorback individual, helping her team trail only Texas.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Arkansas gymnast Allison Cucci earned SEC freshman of the week honors Tuesday after scoring a career-high 39.525 at LSU; the No. 8 Razorbacks will compete at the SEC championships (2 p.m. Saturday) at the BOK Center in Tulsa.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Arkansas is set to face Hawaii at 3:25 p.m. Thursday at Moda Center in a game that comes 10 years after Hawaii’s last NCAA Tournament appearance.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Jordan Smith, an Arkansas basketball commit from Paul VI, was named the Naismith Boys High School Player of the Year after leading his team to a state title and impressing recruiters; he committed to coach John Calipari over top programs (ESPN rated him the No. 2 player nationally).  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • The No. 4 Arkansas men’s golf team won the All-American Intercollegiate in Humble, Texas, with a twelve shot lead on Tuesday. Sophomore Erich Fortlage led with a 67 in the final round (three Razorbacks finished in the top six) after Monday’s harsh weather rounds.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Arkansas basketball guard Darius Acuff was named AP First-Team All-American on Monday.
