  • A devastating tornado struck Cushman on Friday—killing three residents and injuring about 20 others—as teams mobilize to help with recovery efforts.  ABC 7

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A tractor trailer rolled over on its side on Interstate 30 westbound in North Little Rock near 30 Crossing on Monday afternoon—blocking all lanes near Exit 142 until crews reopened two lanes by 4:38 p.m. with a reported possible injury.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • The West Pulaski Fire Department is responding to a timber vehicle fire north of Bandy Road and south of Garrison Road and is evacuating houses in the 3100 block of Bandy Road—unpredictable winds have raised the risk—with help from Crystal Valley Fire Department and Arkansas Forestry while no injuries have been reported.  ABC 7

  • Logoly State Park, which opened in 1978 as one of the first parks to focus on environmental education, now offers hiking trails and organizes field trips and nature programs for elementary and high school students—continuing its long focus on outdoor learning.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Sanders announced on March 17 that the Defense Against Criminal Illegals Act enhanced penalties for crimes by illegal immigrants and expanded the state's sanctuary city ban — requiring local law enforcement to join federal ICE deportation efforts.  THV 11
  • Arkansas senators and four House members wrote a letter on Friday asking EU leaders to reconsider a deforestation rule (Regulation 2023/1115) that they said creates tough trade barriers and may hurt wood imports and the forest products industry. They warned the rule could damage a key part of the state economy, which earns $409 million in cash receipts from timber.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
