ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Sixteen families were displaced after a late-night fire broke out just after midnight at Fairfield Apartments (Green Mountain Drive) in Little Rock; there were no injuries, and management is coordinating with insurance as residents seek longer-term housing.  ABC 7

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Faymonville celebrated steel topping out for its new manufacturing facility at the Port of Little Rock, its first US plant with a $100 million investment and a 409,000 sqft building (expanding to 624,000 sqft in phase 2) that will complete development and begin hiring to become operational by Q2.  THV 11

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Entergy Arkansas submitted a request on Friday to raise average residential electric bills by about $1.16 per month, effective January 2027 if approved by the Arkansas Public Service Commission. The filing aims to support planned investments in new power projects.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Nearly 200 high school students gathered Friday at the Richard Sheppard Arnold Federal Courthouse for the 2026 Arkansas High School Mock Trial Competition, which features 21 teams in a two-day event designed to simulate courtroom advocacy.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

  • Little Rock officials and Garver have begun planning a deck park project by asking residents for input; further details on location and meetings are expected soon.  THV 11

  • Arkansas Razorbacks play Florida Gators today in Gainesville in an SEC game where both coaches won national titles — the contest is set to offer a close and competitive matchup.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Maria Arboleda Angulo earned a bronze in the women's high jump (6 feet, 1 1/2 inches) on Friday at the SEC Indoor Championships, putting the Razorbacks in strong position as they prepare for finals (College Station) on Saturday.   • Drivers should plan for road closures as the Little Rock Marathon continues this weekend. LaHarpe is closed (until Sunday) and other streets have temporary restrictions that affect travel in the city.  ABC 7
