  • Devvie Turner opened Talking Roses, a flower shop offering printed blooms, Saturday (Valentine’s Day) in South Little Rock’s Gavi Mall. Turner, who once experienced homelessness after losing her mother, now celebrates a fresh start that brings hope and happiness to the community.  THV 11

CULTURE NEWS

  • On Saturday, Feb. 14, the William F. Laman Public Library in North Little Rock hosted a Valentine’s Day group wedding where the Fitzgeralds and five other couples renewed their vows and two couples married.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Arkansas Symphony Orchestra will present Modern Muses at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Susie and Charles Morgan Hall at its Stella Boyle Smith Music Center in East Village, with ticket prices at $30 and $15 for students or military with valid ID.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • The Perry Ryan Theater Company is staging Disney’s The Little Mermaid this month with New York actor Micayla Dane Pollock as Ariel, who says her role involves a tough sacrifice for the life she dreams of.   • Records show Little Rock held its first Mardi Gras celebration in 1875, starting a rich local tradition. The annual SoMardi Gras parade will roll down Main Street at noon on Feb. 18.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

  • In 2024, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission used doorbell camera footage from Cammack Village to catch a man who poached deer by firing a crossbow from his truck during early morning hours; investigators enhanced the video to secure clear evidence.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

  • Downtown revitalization is uniting Argenta and Rockwater Village along the Arkansas River through new housing and public investments that spur cultural and economic growth.
